At Sun Valley Kitchen + Community Center (SVK+CC), our mission is to support, connect, and empower the Sun Valley community so that all residents can thrive as the neighborhood grows and evolves. We envision a thriving, resilient, and connected Sun Valley where every resident has access to the resources, opportunities, and support needed to lead healthy, empowered lives.

Who We Are
SVK+CC is a welcoming hub rooted in food, where neighbors of all backgrounds come together to thrive, connect, and care for one another. In the midst of a rapidly changing Sun Valley, SVK+CC provides stability and support through four core program areas: Food Access, Youth Empowerment, Holistic Health, and Community Building.
What We Do
SVK+CC provides stability to youth, individuals, and families, and the overall community, by being a consistent presence, building individual relationships, and adapting to the changing context of the neighborhood. SVK+CC meets people where they are and treats everyone with respect and dignity. Food serves as a catalyst and conduit for community building in all of SVK+CC’s programs.
Who We Work With
SVK+CC serves community members in West Denver, including youth, individuals, and families. Our programming is specifically designed to support historically underserved communities, and we engage everyone, across demographics, in our programming and work. We are particularly focused on building social cohesion among the residents of the rapidly-changing Sun Valley neighborhood.
Theory of Change
The Opportunity: Sun Valley community members and individuals from surrounding neighborhoods, including youth, individuals, and families have limited access to fresh food in their neighborhood and few employment opportunities. The redevelopment has the potential to unite or create divisions among a previously insulated and tight-knit community.
