Programs

Our Mission

We strive every day to serve children and families with food and love. We work tirelessly to provide support and care for our community.

No-Cost Grocery Program

We believe access to fresh, nutritious food is a right, not a privilege. Using a simple process, participants can attend the grocery program twice a week, alongside neighbors in a judgement-free space. Children and adults are offered prepared hot meals to-go, along with fresh and healthy food options.

Chef Entrepreneurship

SVKCC offers employment and workforce development opportunities for local residents interested in developing the skills needed to operate a food-based business. The Chef Entrepreneurship program provides training, professional development, hands-on work experience and business operations education utilizing a social enterprise model.

Youth Enrichment

Our Youth Enrichment Program exposes third through fifth grade children to new environments, cultures, and activities. Weekly cooking classes are led by an instructor, assisted by volunteers, and incorporate healthy and nutritious food in a safe and supportive environment.

Youth Employment and Professional Development

Local youth are exposed to new professional opportunities and explore career paths while building their tangible job skills. We provide experience in kitchen operations, restaurant management, and food preparation, preparing youth for future employment. SVK+CC instituted a Scholarship Fund for youth employees in 2019.

Viaduct Night Market

The Viaduct Night Market emerged as a community concept for an international market destination under the West Colfax viaduct. Local chefs from our Chef Entrepreneurship program sell their cuisine alongside artists, merchants, and food businesses from Denver’s westside. The market celebrates diverse cultures, activates underutilized public spaces, and creates opportunities for local businesses and entrepreneurs, leading to a more resilient and thriving community.
